Privacy, in plain words.
What happens to your data when you read Day in Portugal. This follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679), Portuguese Law 58/2019, and Law 41/2004 on electronic communications and cookies.
Who is responsible
Day in Portugal is run by Pedro Carvalho Morim, Portugal (the “data controller”). Contact: dayinportugal@gmail.com.
What we collect ourselves
- Nothing by default. There are no accounts, no forms, no newsletter and no analytics on this site.
- If you email us, we receive your address and what you write. We use it only to reply, and delete it when the conversation is over unless you ask us to keep it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
Hosting: Netlify
The site is hosted by Netlify, Inc. Like any web server, Netlify processes your IP address, browser type and the page requested in order to deliver the page and protect it from abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a secure website (art. 6(1)(f)). Netlify is based in the United States; transfers rely on its data processing terms and the safeguards they describe. See Netlify’s privacy policy.
Photos and links to other sites
Photos are hosted on this site. Links to Instagram open that service under its own privacy policy.
Affiliate cookies — only if you accept
We earn a commission when you book through some of our links (see how we earn). To credit those bookings we use Travelpayouts, an affiliate network. Its script is not loaded until you click “Accept” in the cookie banner. Once loaded, it may:
- turn links to partners (GetYourGuide, Viator, Civitatis, Klook, KKday, WeGoTrip, Tiqets, Booking.com, DiscoverCars, Welcome Pickups, Kiwitaxi, Intui, Localrent, Auto Europe, Airalo, Yesim, Saily, Aviasales, Compensair, Radical Storage, Bikesbooking, Heymondo, SafetyWing and similar) into tracked affiliate links;
- store identifiers in your browser (cookies or local storage) and read basic technical data such as screen size and browser, to measure clicks and attribute bookings.
Legal basis: your consent (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Law 41/2004). If you reject, the site works exactly the same and links go to the normal public pages. You can change your mind at any time with (also in the footer). See the Travelpayouts privacy policy.
We store your choice in your own browser (local storage key dip-consent-v1) for about six months, then ask again.
When you leave for a partner site
When you click through to GetYourGuide, Viator, Civitatis, Klook, KKday, WeGoTrip, Tiqets, Booking.com, DiscoverCars, Welcome Pickups, Kiwitaxi, Intui, Localrent, Auto Europe, Airalo, Yesim, Saily, Aviasales, Compensair, Radical Storage, Bikesbooking, Heymondo, SafetyWing or another partner, you are on their site and under their privacy policy and cookies. We never see your card, your name or your booking details — only an anonymous report that a booking happened and the commission due.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to dayinportugal@gmail.com. You may also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).
